Your Biggest Investment When Starting Up

Investing is laying out money now, to get more money back in the future. Trouble is, at the start of any business, there is a lot of investing and not a whole lot of return. It’s tempting to tighten the budget and forgo a few of the ‘unessentials’ or even to attempt to do them yourself. One of these things should NOT be your branding…

Branding is not a tangible item…it’s not a ‘thing’ that you buy. It’s an emotion…it’s how you feel about your business and as a result, it’s how others feel about your business. A brand, rather a good brand, is a multitude of elements that gives you an edge over your competitors. Beyond just your logo, it gives you direction and deeply impacts people’s perception on who you are and where you are going. Imagine you’ve signed up for a marathon, do you rock up on the day, no training, in a pair of thongs and just hope for the best? Sure it’s possible to do it but are you giving yourself the best chance? If you want your business to go the distance we can provide you with customised running shoes and will coach you along the way to not just get you over that finish line, but to be ahead of the pack and with a smile on your face!

So how much do you invest? As I mentioned, branding is not a physical item with a price tag. However, you will find companies out there that are willing to give you a set fee for a one-size fits all package they have designed. Problem with these large companies though, is they mould you to fit the package. Here at Barnacle & Lime however, we have a different approach and we create bespoke brand identities and styles to suit your individual needs. We know what it’s like to be a small business and we are here to run that marathon alongside you. As a rule of thumb, 10% of your yearly turnover should be used for marketing, which includes your branding. If you are a startup, you will have to use an estimate.

Just like you don’t go into a store and buy a pair of shoes without trying them on, we want you to try us out and feel comfortable with our team. This is why we offer a 15 minute complimentary discovery call. During this chat, we can assess your requirements and discuss an action plan.

Remember we are a small business and we have been in your shoes. Reaching out for creative assistance is a big step but if you are willing to invest in us, we promise to invest in you. We pride ourselves in the quality of our work and are confident in our ability to develop consistent, authentic and quality strategies to help you get your business running faster and further than Forest Gump on a football field.
